Upgrading to Windows 7 Virtual Drives not workingThe problem you are having is most probably caused by corrupted SPTD driver in your system or a conflict with other software (for example antivirus, firewall) in your system. Please uninstall any old version of Alcohol you may have on your system (if you are unable to do it normally just browse to Alcohol folder and delete all files) and then uninstall SPTD layer. To uninstall SPTD Layer drivers you will need to use SPTD installer/uninstaller, you can download it at following link:
http://duplexsecure.com/downloads/
After uninstalling it please restart Windows. Now please run regedit.exe, then browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\ and delete sptd key (you may need to adjust cfg key permissions to delete it). Also please browse to c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and delete sptd.sys file. Restart Windows.
If you were unable to delete sptd key in registry then please try to delete it again now, after deleting sptd.sys and restarting Windows, it is very important you delete this key.
Now reinstall latest version of SPTD layer driver using the installer/uninstaller you downloaded from DuplexSecure site, then restart Windows once again, and now reinstall Alcohol.
If you continue having problems please try to temporarily disable (or even uninstall) your real-time antivirus, firewall or any other security software and try to install Alcohol again. We had some reports recently of conflicts between SPTD and latest versions of ZoneAlarm and Spyware Doctor products.
