How to enable DMA mode (Win XP)1. In the Start Menu go to Control panel then choose System.
 
2. Then Choose hardware, then Device Manager
 
3. Then choose IDE/ATAPI Controllers then either your Primary or Secondry IDE Channel, then with a right Mouse Click choose properties
  
4. Then choose Advanced Settings
 
5. Here you can enable or disable DMA mode
